24 Hour Experiment

Following on with the idea that television turns its audience in to useless and emotionless lumps,  i decided to put it to the test and record through images the process taking place.  The proposed idea was to take one human simply sit them in front of the television for 24 hours taking a picture every half and hour.

A few days later the proposed idea became reality,  the pictures above show the television camera set up and the subject.  These pictures where taken by mobile early on in the process and it can be assured that smile wont be around for long.

Multiple Exposure

Through these images i tried to portray the idea that television takes over the mind in the same sort of way that a drug takes away all self control.

Photo shoot 2, Television

In order to decide between Telephone and Television i chose to do a photo shoot for each,  using the studio i worked with the model and the object to gather ideas and get a better idea of which one i wanted to use.  The result being fairly useless,  still undecided...  Unless i go all out and use both.  I really like the idea of looking at addiction,  well i think it is fair to say,  phones and T.V.  have simply taken over our lives....

I will come back to you after more research.

Read about the project below.

Read about the project below.

Inventive Styling

We got the brief for our new three week project,  its called inventive styling...
We recieved a list of inventions-
  • Telephone
  • Radio
  • Television
  • Bra
  • Light Bulbs
  • Stiletto Heels
Initial Brainstorm-

Aim
In this project you are to investigate styling within photography,  you are to produce a series of photogrpahs or a film that presents an invention/product in origional ways.  You are to utilise different styles and genres to give a contemorary feel to your images.  You are asked to find creative ways of utalising the object as props that models can interact with.

Basically,  Advetising...

My thoughts
I like it.  I think this project will give me a oppertunity to present different techniques and styles,  I am not used to using one specific prop in a photoshoot but i have always been intrested in advertising and how companys present there product in intresting ways to entise the audience...  but now,  its my turn.

I will keep you posted as my ideas progress.

Late Introduction

Insight
I think its only fair that i give you a bit of an insight to my work...the highs,  the lows,  all that jazz.
I have always been an artist,  it was my thing,  until my teacher without realizing, smashed my dreams and hypothetically repeatedly kicked me in the face.  But im getting ahead of myself,  i only began studying photography when i moved to college in i think 2009.  To begin with it was more of a laugh than anything else,  but it wasn't long before i got in to the subject and realized that there could be something in this.  I began my current course (foundation in art and design)  unsure on whether i wanted to specialize in art or photography but as i said,  it wasn't long before art was out of the question,  now i have come to terms with things i am 100% convinced my life will evolve around photography,  its what i love,  already i have a number of blogs,  website,  flicker,  Facebook page and high hopes for the future.

In studying photography i have been fortunate to have visited Morocco

and cuba...

We are also heading of to Istanbul in February.  Outside of college i have photographed Switzerland (zermatt)  France and places closer to home such as Brighton,  Bristol,  Falmouth,  the Isle of Wight,  London and many more.  I have learnt that photography is a way of life and you never know when you may miss that perfect photograph because you have left your camera at home.

My Work
I cant say that i have one specific genre within photography that i am interested in,  i have photographed landscapes,  urban areas,  city spaces,  out door portraiture,  studio portraiture (high key and low Key) and many more,  i am very open minded and am yet to narrow it down to one specialized area.  (At some point i will blog my whole portfolio when it is complete and ready.)

This Blog
I will be using this blog as more of a diary/scrapbook of my current work,  projects in and out of the educational scene so stay tuned and enjoy.

1st Year Fashion Show

First Year Fashion Show

I was fortunate enough to photograph a surprisingly impressive fashion show on Friday the 6th of January,  put on by the first year textiles students.  Disappointingly it was slightly let down by poor lighting and little organisation, despite that the show displayed a contrasting array of interesting creation's that would send Lady Gaga running for the hills.  Although i am not 100% sure,  i believe each student was given an object to base a series of accessories and or garments around such as,  Pegs,  Bottles,  rubber gloves,  ect.

First year Fashion Show best bits:

Plastic Bottles
This first one that cough my eye shows a vibrant bonnet that looks as it it has fallen from space and attached its self to a unsuspecting humanoid.  It seems plastic bottles where used in this case with this being one from a set of four.  This interesting creation combined with a fantastic model get an A+ from me.

Envelopes

Plastic Bags

Plastic Cutlery

Straws

Rubber Gloves
For me these last three designs where my favorite set,  the first shows an elegant evening dress made from layered rubber gloves. (see below for matching bag)  I find it really shows the potential of the simplest of things and in this case something you would associate with dirt is here presented in a very fashionable,  elegant and sexy way.
